| The conductor Gustaf Sjökvist has attended the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm and studied choral conducting with Eric Ericson, later orchestral conducting with Sixten Ehrling and Karl Münchinger. Since 1967 he has been the Stockholm Cathedral's choir master, heading choral and concert activities there. Between 1986-1994 Gustaf Sjökvist was the principal conductor of the Swedish Radio Choir. |

In 1994 he became principal guest conductor of the Bavarian Radio Choir in Munich. For choral performances and recordings he has collaborated with the maestri Abbado, Muti, Haitink, Guilini, Blomstedt and Levine, among others. Since 1988 he is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, and in 1991 he was appointed Professor by the Swedish Government. |
